Under the direction of Z. Kapoula, Aurélien Morize is working on her thesis in Neurosciences focusing on oculomotor neuroplasticity, the technological development of REMOBI and its clinical validation. He demonstrated the double effectiveness of REMOBI: the diagnostic accuracy of the method associated with the therapeutic benefit, by efficient rehabilitation of the disorders of the ocular vergences. Thus, 4 to 5 sessions of 35 minutes are sufficient to induce lasting improvements in eye movement, stereovision and body posture, with normalization of symptoms. Aurélien Morize now conducts new research, focusing on two main objectives:
- Establish the benefits of REMOBI rehabilitation on the natural movements that we make in three-dimensional space, combining saccades and vergences at the same time.
- Establish the optimal duration of training and rehabilitation to achieve efficient and lasting results.
This research takes place at the Necker Hospital, in cooperation with Prof. D. Bremond Gignac and C. Creux, orthoptics executive. Several international publications, thesis to be supported in December 2017.

The vergence at the crossroads of cognition and postural control

Under the direction of the inventor of REMOBI, Z. Kapoula, François Daniel is a professor at the Lycée technique Fresnel and a doctoral student in Neurosciences. He demonstrated that the defects of vergence / accommodation synergy negatively impact reading and cognitive processes in students. Today, François Daniel studies how rehabilitation of vergence-accommodation synergy improves reading and cognitive functions, thanks to the REMOBI method. This research takes place at the Necker Hospital, a service of Prof. D. Bremond-Gignac; It includes a study of posture of podal afferents (with A. Foisy, Ph.D. osteopath) and of walking (with A. Morize, doctoral student).
This project is the winner of Silmo Academy. International publications, thesis to be supported in November 2017.
REMOBI and hearing
with Erwann Pain

Under the direction of Z. Kapoula, Erwann Pain (Master BIP University Paris VI) in cooperation with Aurélien Morize, Pr. D. Brémond-Gignac and C. Creux have just demonstrated that the effectiveness of REMOBI for the rehabilitation of synergy vergence / Accommodation is even better in children. Two children (aged 9 and 14) were rehabilitated. At the end of only 4 sessions of 15 minutes, one obtains convincing results: the vergences are amplified, the initiation time is shortened and, importantly, the accommodation measured by video-oculograph is accelerated and amplified! This is of great interest to orthoptists.

This research brings a modern trend for the orthoptist, who is mainly concerned with youth: REMOBI is a full-fledged solution to make the vision of children effective.
REMOBI and vergence disorders
Center of Ophthalmology of the Quinze-Vingts Hospital
Vaheeda Mougamadou (orthoptist, trained at the Ophthalmology Center of the Quinze-Vingts Hospital) is currently a master’s student at the University of Paris VI. His training, led by Z. Kapoula, was able to demonstrate the usefulness of REMOBI in difficult cases of verbal disorders, where there is a disagreement between the orthoptic balance and the symptomatology. Thanks to the recording and fine analysis of eye movements, REMOBI provides the solution to this problem.
REMOBI and post-traumatic strabismus

Violette Gruit (orthoptist trained at the school of Amiens) is currently a master’s student at the University of Paris VI. His training, led by Z. Kapoula, was able to demonstrate that in young children with strabismus operated after trauma, not only the visual axes are realigned, but there is also a normalization and a complete restoration of their bino-ocular motility, Jerks and almost optimal vergences.

Finally, Khadija Elanbari (orthoptist, trained at the Ophthalmology Center of the Quinze-Vingts Hospital) is currently a master’s student at the University of Paris VI. During the internship conducted by Z. Kapoula, an orthoptic assessment was performed in 20 patients with stroke, treated at the Rothschild Hospital (Pr. Thoumie & Pr. Robain services). This report shows the great need for orthoptic exploration in these patients, but Khadija reports a relative difficulty and a non-tolerance of the conventional tools of orthoptics by these patients, for example the prism bars; No doubt that the dissociating nature of prisms is trying for these patients, particularly fragile.
At this stage, orthoptic exploration suggests that in the future REMOBI could be the most suitable solution for this population. Indeed, with REMOBI, the patient’s gaze moves automatically and naturally in a real space, without any optical or dissociating constraint that is trying for this type of patient.
The team hopes to set up a cooperative study with the hospital, to demonstrate the contribution of REMOBI.
